Essential Oil Research

Research on essential oil studies will be included in the future on this page on the website.  The information below shows just a few studies available on Lavender and Peppermint oils.

Documented studies are now available showing the ability of the oils to raising blood oxygen levels and affect mental and physical health.
A preview of studies related to Lavender and Peppermint:

  • A 2004 study in the Journal of Radiation Research showed that peppermint oil could “reverse radiation damage” in cancer survivors.
  • Christen Ablrech University showed that a topical application of peppermint oil was an effective treatment for tension headaches.
  • A 2001 report in the Journal of Sport and Exercise Physiology showed that “inhalation of Peppermint increased athletic performance in human volunteers.”
  • Other studies show that peppermint oil reduced emotional irritation, decreased depression, increased clerical productivity and accuracy and sharpened cognitive function.
  • A University of Vienna study showed that diffusing lavender oil reduced emotional agitation in test subjects who were injected with caffeine.
  • A test at the General Hospital in Ireland showed that lavender oil was effective in improving patients’ ability to sleep, and that it reduced the need for nighttime sedation.
  • And a study in the Lancelot Report used lavender oil to treat geriatric patients who had chronic insomnia. Lancelot researchers found that “…inhalation of ambient lavender oil outperformed sleep medications in improving sleep duration and quality”. The subjects using the lavender oil were shown to have improved moods and better cognitive ability the day following their use of lavender oil.
